The adidas Breaking Barriers Project x Sportiw: Breaking Barriers for Women in Football

For the third consecutive year, Sportiw has partnered with the adidas Breaking Barriers Project to provide women and nonbinary football players the opportunity to overcome obstacles in their sports journey. Together, we continue to promote equitable opportunities and support the development of women in football through a series of concrete initiatives.

The project benefits from collaborating with committed partners such as Common Goal, Women Win, and 17 Sport, who share the same vision of equity and inclusivity in sports.

The adidas Breaking Barriers Project: Concrete Initiatives for Equity

The adidas Breaking Barriers Project exists to make sport equal for women, girls, and nonbinary people by providing greater access, equity, and safety in sports.

By working together with experts in the field of gender equity and sports, nonprofit sports organizations from across Europe, and local leaders and coaches, the adidas Breaking Barriers Project provides the sports industry with the necessary tools to lead change so that, together, we can drive true equity in sports.

adidas uses its resources and influence to transform the sports industry by creating a more inclusive and equitable environment. Among the key initiatives of the project, the Innovation Lab is a startup incubator program focused on empowering entrepreneurs and innovators working on solutions that address the barriers that women, girls, and nonbinary people face in accessing sport.

Clémentine Painter, Strategic Planning Director at adidas Business Development EMEA, explains:
“The Breaking Barriers Project is a key initiative to eliminate the obstacles women, girls, and nonbinary people face in sports. Our goal is to provide athletes with the tools they need to succeed and ensure they have the same opportunities as their male counterparts.”

The adidas Breaking Barriers Project offers career management training, mentorship, and personalized support to help athletes and coaches achieve their goals at all levels. Start training to be a gender-equitable leader today with the adidas Breaking Barriers Academy.
