A player for Nancy Handball, Baptiste Koehl continues his development with constant determination. A left-handed player operating as a right wing and right back, he stands out for his commitment, consistency, and above all, his immense passion for the sport—a passion that comes through in every one of his answers.
His experience in the Champions de Demain program in Chambéry further strengthened his desire to reach the highest level.
An unforgettable entrance onto the court
Among the most memorable moments of his stay, Baptiste especially remembers the emotion of stepping onto the court and feeling the crowd.
“When we stepped onto the court, being applauded by so many people really struck me. Those three days were excellent; if I had to do it again, I would accept immediately.”
Building confidence
On a personal level, this immersion helped him progress mentally, especially in a key area for him: confidence.
“I learned to gain confidence in my shooting, and all the advice I received left a strong impression on me because it changed something within me.”
A development he now wants to continue working on daily.
Learning not to give up
Baptiste is also aware of his main area for improvement: handling difficulties.
“Never give up, because I tend to give up too quickly as soon as I face a challenge.”
Beyond the court, the experience also opened new perspectives for him, especially on a human and cultural level.
“Discovering the differences in their understanding of the game, learning their language, trying to improve my English… it shows how important it is to speak English.”
Exchanges that helped him grow and broaden his view of handball.
A dream of becoming a professional player
Like many young players, Baptiste looks up to a specific role model in his position.
“Yannis Lenne for his explosiveness and his shooting… he plays right wing like me, so he was my source of inspiration. And he still is.”
His ambition is clear and fully embraced: to make a living from handball and reach the top level.
“It motivates me because now I have confidence in myself and it makes me want to keep going, not to tell myself I will never achieve my dream of becoming a professional. In life, when you want something, you can achieve it.”
And above all, to relive this meaningful experience:
“My dream is to experience those three days again and become a professional because I love my sport. Handball is like a drug for me.”
What a Champion de Demain is
For Baptiste, a Champion de Demain is прежде all about opportunity and mentality.
“We can become the next generation of great players we have seen, we can leave our mark on French handball, and be part of the first group of this experience.”
Through his journey, Baptiste Koehl embodies a compelling profile: a young player driven by passion, aware of his areas for improvement, but fueled by a strong desire to succeed. Raw, sincere energy and a firm belief that with work and perseverance, the dream of becoming a professional remains within reach.
