The “NBA Summer League” will be held from July 7 to 17 in Las Vegas! It will be played in July for the first time since the pandemic. Most of the new 2022 rookies are expected! Back on the program of this 2K23 edition!
All 30 NBA franchises present!
The Summer League, which will be held in Las Vegas (at the Thomas & Mack Center and the Cox Pavilion) should once again be well attended by all basketball fans!
Bringing together all 30 NBA franchises, the Summer League usually allows the different teams to judge each other before the NBA regular season. It is also an opportunity for teams to rotate their roster and give playing time to everyone.
The 2K23 program:
The 17th edition of the NBA Summer League will see all 30 NBA teams play five games each. Each team will play four games between July 7 and July 15, and the top two teams from the first four games will play each other on Sunday, July 17 at 3 p.m. local time. The 28 teams that will not participate in the final will play a fifth match on July 16 or 17.
The opportunity to show off for some players!
The Summer League will be a mix between players who will make their NBA debut but also others who did not have the chance to be drafted, who play in the G-League (minor league of the NBA) or some international players.
The rookies can play with less pressure in these games without real consequences. And it can be revealing of talents… As it was the case of Damian Lillard in 2012 who was elected MVP of the Summer League in Vegas and who finished the season “Rookie of the Year” with the Portland Blazers.
"The NBA Summer League provides a first warm-up before the regular season and especially to get a look at the new rookies."
Start of the regular season in October!
From next October, the 30 franchises will compete and try to succeed the Warriors. And on Thursday, January 19, 2023, the NBA will be back in Paris, with the Bulls taking on the Pistons!
Summer League remains an important step in the beginning of the season and to potentially get a glimpse of the players who will make their mark on the 2022/2023 NBA season… You can find all the results live on the ESPN website.
Last year, the Kings of Louis King (MVP of the competition) and Davion Mitchell won the finals over the Celtics of Carsen Edwards and Aaron Nesmith.
